EThEKWINI METROCONNECT

The objective of bringing Ethernet to the Last Mile is to deliver data, voice and video over a simple and inexpensive Ethernet Network.
 
Based on a Carrier Ethernet services framework, eThekwini MetroConnect enables licensed Services Providers to connect their customers to the Service Providers network using Ethernet based last mile infrastructure.
 
eThekwini MetroConnect is a Layer 2 VPN service on the eThekwini Municipality NGN Network that provides point-to-point, point-to-multipoint or multipoint-to-multipoint connectivity between the Service Provider and their customer sites.
 
The service is available in either Fiber or Copper Ethernet last mile derivatives, both of which are determined by the proximity of an eThekwini MetroConnect aggregated Provider Edge (PE) Point of Presence (POP).
 
eThekwini MetroConnect is available to licensed Service Providers, Content Providers and selected Public Sector entities via an Open Service Provider Model (OSPN).
